Sabrina Benjamin - Voice/ Piano

Voice/ Piano

Music and singing have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I was drawn to the joy and   expression that comes through singing, and over the years, that passion grew into a lifelong musical journey. During high school, I had the opportunity to develop my vocal skills through Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, and Vocal Jazz. I also performed with Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley Park, appearing in the production of Oklahoma!. These early experiences helped build my confidence as a performer and deepened my love for many different styles of music. I went on to study Vocal Performance at Capilano University, where I also studied secondary piano.   My education gave me a strong foundation in vocal technique, musicianship, performance, and musicality. Since then, my career has taken me through many different musical settings and experiences. I performed as part of a duo with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, performed in hotels throughout Vancouver, and sang with numerous bands in and around the Vancouver area. I have also worked as a live and studio backup vocalist, including performing at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival at the Commodore Ballroom. My musical journey eventually took me east, where I performed with bands and as a solo artist in both Montreal and Toronto. I was also fortunate to be part of a gospel choir in Ottawa, adding another important musical influence and experience to my journey. Songwriting has also become an important part of my musical expression. I love the creative process of taking an idea or emotion and turning it into something that can be shared through music. Along the way, I discovered another passion: helping others find their own voice. I had the opportunity to teach children about jazz before returning my focus to vocal performance. That experience showed me how rewarding it can be to help someone discover the joy and confidence that comes from making music. Today, I want to bring all of these experiences together through teaching. My goal is not simply to teach someone how to sing, but to inspire children and adults to develop a genuine love of music through vocal expression. I believe every voice is unique, and singing can be a powerful way to build confidence, creativity, emotional expression, and connection. Whether a student is completely new to singing, wants to develop their technique, or dreams of performing, I want to create a supportive environment where they can explore their voice, have fun, and discover what they are capable of.
